This bus was purchased from a private party. While transporting buses through Columbus, GA we stopped to repair a radiator on a 4519. While waiting for the job to be completed, I noticed a 5303 sitting in a field. So, I checked it out and it was bus #3722 from Toronto. Now it is very difficult to bring buses from Canado to the United States As it turns out, this one was purchased by a private party for some large bus operation. I wanted it because it was a Canadian 5303.
I purchased it, got it running, and while driving back to California, it had an engine failure in Texas. I had it towed into Perris. It was so rusty I completely replaced the power plant and it ran great for the next 20 years I had it. I did mostly routine maintenance. Bus #5303 was neat because it had a 4-piece rear door with treadles. Not common in the US. It also had no standee windows. Certainly was different.
Fun Fleet Bus #3722 was eventually sold for scrap.
